CORPORATE FREEBIES
(FORTUNE Magazine) – Stuck with out-of-town visitors and don't know what to do with them? How about taking them on a trip to the nearest corporate museum? Stifle that yawn. Such museums offer a lot. Visitors to AT&T's InfoQuest Center in New York City and Motorola's new Museum of Electronics in Schaumburg, Illinois, for example, can enjoy hands-on experience with interactive computers that rival Nintendo for a test of skills. Both museums are free, as are: -- Campbell Soup's museum in Camden, New Jersey, which displays a huge collection of 18th-century silver and porcelain soup tureens. -- Cigna, the Philadelphia insurer, has the nation's most comprehensive collection of antique firefighting equipment. -- Remington Arms museum in Ilion, New York, and Daisy Manufacturing's International Air Gun Museum in Rogers, Arkansas, have just about everything for the gun buff. -- Wells Fargo displays its stagecoach past in museums in Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, and San Francisco. Hours vary at these museums -- call ahead to find when they're open. |
