FORTUNE BUSINESS CONFIDENCE INDEX
By LIXANDRA URRESTA

(FORTUNE Magazine) – The mood of corporate America improved vastly this summer. After falling for two months, the FORTUNE Business Confidence Index soared to a record 166 in August. Eight out of ten chief financial officers think the economy will keep growing over the next two years. Not that they credit Bill Clinton: 57% give the President only fair to poor grades for his handling of the economy. Fully 87% think Bob Dole would be the better man for the job.
