Correction and Amplification

(FORTUNE Magazine) – In the Oct. 2 edition of FORTUNE, we goofed. We reversed the birthplaces of J.P. Morgan CEO Sandy Warner and Chase CEO Bill Harrison. Warner isn't from North Carolina, but Harrison is--and as a matter of fact, so are a lot of other well-known figures in the financial world. A partial list: John Mack, president of Morgan Stanley Dean Witter; Dick Jenrette, chairman emeritus at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette; Julian Robertson of Tiger Management; Ken Thompson, CEO, and Ed Crutchfield, chairman, of First Union; Erskine Bowles of Forstmann Little; John Townsend of Goldman Sachs; Frank Nickell of Kelso; Louis Bacon of Moore Capital Management; and Paul Parker of Lehman Bros. Makes us wonder whether the Tar Heel State should really be the "Wall Street State."
