(FORTUNE Magazine) – Altimeter by Victorinox

It was just a matter of time before a Swiss Army knife appeared that let you know how high you are. The latest offering from Victorinox ($97) features an altimeter that displays a user's altitude in both feet and meters (as an added bonus, it also gives a temperature reading). It's a fine distraction when riding the elevator of a high-rise and will confirm when you've reached the 14,495-foot summit of Mount Whitney. But don't pack this tool for a stab at the 29,035-foot Mount Everest or a parachute jump. The altimeter works only to 18,000 feet, and the battery-saving delay makes it a bad gauge for pulling the ripcord.
