(FORTUNE Magazine) – Last year dot-coms were floating on air; this year they're six feet under. Another 22 became worm food last month, boosting our 2001 total to 240. This month saw the high-profile demise of Webvan (see Alsop on Infotech for more), as well as the death of Essential.com (not a must-have) and Ontheroad.com, which we imagine is careening into Death Valley.
