Photoshop Gets a Facelift
By Peter Lewis

(FORTUNE Magazine) – At $149 for an upgrade, or even at $609 for a full version for first-time buyers, Adobe's Photoshop version 7.0 is cheaper than plastic surgery when it comes to erasing wrinkles and age spots from someone's face--in a photograph, at least. A clever new "healing" tool retouches photos more easily than ever before and with more natural-looking results. You simply swipe across an unblemished area of a photo--for example, a relatively unlined forehead--and then draw an outline around another area of the photo that needs some cosmetic help, like bags and lines under the eyes. Faster than you can say Botox, the target area is rejuvenated. The new version also adds File Browser, a window that makes it easier to view, organize, and annotate large collections of photos and other image files. For Windows or Mac OS users who want to take full advantage of their fancy new digital cameras, Photoshop 7.0 is a winner. And, at last, the Macintosh version has been fully rewritten for Apple's Mac OS X.
