(FORTUNE Magazine) – "The parties are advised to chill"

--U.S. Appeals Court Judge Alex Kozinski's written opinion in a five-year legal battle between Mattel and MCA Records. The dispute started in 1997 when Danish band Aqua released its dance hit "Barbie Girl." (Sample lyric: "Come on, Barbie, let's go party!") Mattel sued for trademark infringement; MCA countersued for defamation. In late July, Kozinski affirmed a lower court's ruling that effectively dismissed both complaints, calling the case "Speech-Zilla meets Trademark Kong." As for Aqua, it's gone as well. --Daniel Roth
