(FORTUNE Magazine) – Her name is Barbie. Honestly. You may have heard about high-end dating services--firms that charge $10,000 (minimum) to pair Gulfstream sugar daddies with women specially bagged and tagged. We just had to see this for ourselves. Enter Barbie Adler (above), a former Korn-Ferry headhunter who runs matchmaking firm Selective Search. We went undercover, joining Barbie and 200 kitten-heeled hopefuls at a Manhattan bar. Barbie provided the booze, the makeup artist (actress Sarah Jessica Parker's, if you must know), and the glamour-shot photographer who took pics for the men's menu. But how does Barbie find the Kens? Some come to her, and she also relies on an intricate network of lawyers, tailors, manicurists, and hairdressers to drop dime on who's single or soon to be. She claims a 30% first-date success rate. One client is so keen on getting hitched he's willing to pay Barbie a "five-figure bonus" if she nets him a new missus. In this economy, headhunting just ain't what it used to be.... Since we were tossing decency to the wind anyway, we decided to track down 30-year-old Joe Francis, who's generating much buzz lately. If you didn't know, he's the brains behind the breast-baring "Girls Gone Wild" videos, an undertaking that has ballooned into a $100 million business. We caught up with Francis as he held "casting" meetings at his live pay-per-view Spring Break event. He reports he's got a GGW movie, clothing line, and video featuring Eminem in the pipeline. But this guy has standards! "Personally, I wouldn't go on a reality show," he says. "I think Joe Millionaire is embarrassing for girls." ... Finally, Disney chief Michael Eisner nabs our award for Best Quip, in response to a recent query by CNNfn's Susan Lisovicz on his strategy for keeping his job: "A toupee would probably be the appropriate thing," he joked. "Make people think I'm a new CEO instead of an aging, entrenched CEO."
