Your Firm Is Toast GIVEAWAYS
By Matthew Boyle

(FORTUNE Magazine) – For years, companies have hawked promotional goodies like pens and coffee mugs, feeding a market that bulged to over $16 billion in the U.S. last year. While most tchotckes are thrown in a drawer and soon forgotten, a new item from New York City--based firm LC Premiums is--Lord help us--fast becoming the toast of the freebie industry.

LC Premiums sells custom-made toasters that will burn your corporate logo onto regular-sized bread. The items made a splash at last January's Promotional Products Association International trade show, winning New Product of the Year. So far clients like Cinemax, Target, and Microsoft Canada have placed orders for the toasters, which work just like regular ones but include a thin metal plate bearing the logo, which is pushed up against the bread during toasting.

The toasters come in both chrome ($49) and plastic ($29) versions. LC Premiums chief Linda Carlish says the only limitation is that ornate logos are tough to replicate on bread--"We had to turn down Panera"--but in that case, clients can get the company name in block letters. Or, of course, stick with coffee mugs. --Matthew Boyle
