(FORTUNE Magazine) – May 31 Katie Couric departs NBC's Today show. In September she'll debut at CBS Evening News, making history and--bet on it--great ratings for the network.

June 2 Wal-Mart investors head to Arkansas for the company's annual meeting. Expect CEO Lee Scott to address the company's tepid stock price--and Wal-Mart's critics.

June 4 The world's biggest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean's 158,000-ton Freedom of the Seas, sets sail from Miami on its first regular cruise.

June 7 The Fed will discuss predatory lending issues at the first of four public hearings on the home-equity market.

June 9 The World Cup kicks off in Germany to cheers from the tourism industry: More than three million Fussball fans are expected to flood Berlin.
