Fuel Systems Solutions produces alternative-fuel components and systems that allow buses, trucks and heavy equipment to run on clean fuels like propane and natural gas. The New York-based company, through subsidiaries IMPCO Technologies and BRC, sells its products to distributors, automakers, and industrial equipment manufacturers in over 70 countries.

Profits for last year more than doubled compared with 2008, as Fuel Systems Solutions capitalized on Italian government incentives to promote cleaner fuels; the incentives expired in March. Meanwhile, in the U.S., Fuel Systems Solutions is producing EPA-certified dual-propane and gasoline fuel systems for the North America car market.
