How it works
The Find the Companies You Most Admire tool gives FORTUNE.com users the chance to sort companies according to the criteria they find most interesting. This is an informal and unscientific ranking for the interest and enjoyment of Fortune.com users.

The tool employs the same methodology used to determine each company's overall score, but applies it against only those criteria that the user has selected. The chosen scores are added together and then divided by the number of criteria the user selected.

Results are shown for the 25 America's Most Admired Companies with the highest scores in each sort. Companies are listed in order from the highest average score to the lowest.

Note: If a user selects all eight criteria, the companies will be listed in the order of total overall score. However, the overall top 20 ranking is not based on a company's overall score. To create the overall top 20 ranking the Hay Group asked survey respondents to select the companies they admired most in any industry.
