(FORTUNE Small Business) – This husband-and-wife team admits that moving their polling company from New Jersey to Las Vegas five years ago wasn't a sure thing. They'd found a nice niche conducting surveys for Atlantic City casinos, but to roll with the really big boys they knew they'd have to head west. Relocating paid off. Since the move, their client roster has doubled and now includes the top casinos in town. And their new locale has made it easier for their ten-year-old firm to strike survey deals with film and TV companies in nearby Hollywood. Revenues: about $50 million, up 985% since relocating. Why Vegas? The high volume of tourists here means we have America walking past our front door, and that lets us deliver better demographics and data than our Northeast-based competition. Has the glitz gotten to them? We've named offices in honor of Elvis and Marilyn Monroe, and we've dubbed our 48-seat screening room for testing TV pilots and movies the Rat Pack Theater. When in Rome? No slot machines, but we love the all-you-can-eat buffet table.
