Good news for FSB alumniTwo companies we profiled win big victories.(FSB) -- E Solutions, a Tampa IT firm we covered in May 2005, has contracted with 13 Major League Baseball teams to license its web-based scouting software. In March, after signing up the Astros, Mariners, and Mets, president Michael Morizio spun off the sports division into a separate company, ScoutAdvisor (scoutadvisor.com). Morizio now hopes to score overseas, marketing his software to European cricket and soccer teams. Meanwhile, Vertebration (vertebration.com), the winner of FSB's 2004 business-plan competition, received FDA approval in April for its spinal implant. Founder and surgeon Henry Fabian created the XY Cor spinal implant, which can be inserted through a tube at a fraction of its final size before expanding in the body, making surgery less invasive. The company expects to go to market in June. To write a note to the editor about this article, click here. From the June 1, 2007 issue
