This bedroom community north of Salt Lake City has become a booming, self-sufficient place. With numerous restaurants, shopping centers, and other commercial amenities, residents don't have to leave town.

Rush-hour traffic into and out of SLC was once a problem, but the construction of new highways and a commuter train have alleviated the congestion.

Bountiful is bordered on the west by the Great Salt Lake and by the Wasatch Mountains on the east. The most prized homes in the area are on the "Bountiful Bench," a plateau offering great views of the lake, valley, and mountains. --N.A.
