FIGHTING FRAUD
(MONEY Magazine) – Your August article ''You May Already Be a Victim of Fraud'' referred to difficulties encountered by one of your reporters in obtaining complaint information from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Her experience was an anomaly. Anyone seeking information on a firm dealing in commodity futures or options should first call the National Futures Association at 800-621-3570 to make sure that the firm and its salesperson are properly registered. To find out about any disciplinary actions taken by the commission against the firm, its principals or a salesperson, call the commission's Office of Communications and Education Services at 202-254-8630. R. David Gary Deputy director, Office of Communications and Education Services Commodity Futures Trading Commission Washington, D.C. I do not know how much money I have invested in subscriptions to MONEY. But let me assure you I got it all back when I read your recent article, ''You May Already Be a Victim of Fraud.'' Thanks a million. Rodney L. Lehman Diamond Bar, Calif. |
