THE DEALS OF SUMMER '92
By Debra Wishik Englander

(MONEY Magazine) – We asked our travel pros to name this season's top vacation values. Here are some of their favorites: NORTH AMERICA -- Off-season at ski resorts. For $62 a night per adult (kids under 12 stay free), guests can choose one free activity each day, including golf, rafting, horseback riding, fishing and more at the Colorado Rockies Keystone Resort, which is a 1 1/2-hour drive from Denver (800-222-0188). -- Mexico. For a beach holiday spiced with Aztec culture, try a two-week tour that begins in Mexico City and includes Guadalajara and Acapulco with air fare (from Houston) and some meals; starting at $1,600 (American Express Vacations; 800-937-2639). -- Orlando. You can save $150 to $300 a day when visiting Disney World with hotel and restaurant discount coupons from the Orlando Entertainment '92 Publications discount book ($30 plus $3 shipping; 407-425-0057). EUROPE -- Portugal. Beat the season's crowds and prices of Olympics-clogged Barcelona. Instead, book three nights at a Lisbon hotel, excluding air fare, for as low as $129 per person (American Express Vacations; 800-937-2639). -- England. A six-day motor-coach tour through England, Scotland and Wales including air fare and some meals costs $1,089 per person until May 31; $1,189 from June 1 to Sept. 14 (British Airways; 800-359-8722). CRUISES Although cruises may cost more than tour packages, they generally deliver more for the dollar. -- Alaska. A seven-night Alaskan cruise with stops at Glacier Bay, Juneau and Vancouver starts at $949 per person, excluding air fare (World Wide Cruises; 800-882-9000). For the best prices, book through cruise-only specialists, such as Florida-based Landry & Kling (800-431-4007). -- D.W.E.
