SHE MAKES THE MONEY MOVES, AND HE COULDN'T CARE LESS
(MONEY Magazine) – The November issue really held my attention, especially your story ''He Says, She Says,'' about how men and women differ in their views of money. My husband and I indeed have different views. He never reads your magazine, while I read it from cover to cover. He has no interest in learning about stocks or bonds; I am fascinated by them and want to know more and more. I make all the investment decisions for the family, yet when we receive phone calls about family finances, I have to haggle with the callers to convince them that the person they want is me, not my husband. Several years ago, when we were buying a house, the seller's attorney called and asked me to put my husband on the phone. He then asked my husband a question. My husband 's response was, ''Just a moment. I have to ask my wife; she handles all the money decisions.'' When will the stereotype go away? Jean A. Jones Sharon, Mass. |
