(MONEY Magazine) – $2,200 Absolute Asia's eight-day tour of Japan has dropped from $2,750 a year ago. This package includes standard hotel rooms (small and clean) in Tokyo and historic Kyoto. Round trip New York-Tokyo on All Nippon Airways is $800; last year it was $950.

$898 Seven nights at the Hawaiian Regent on Waikiki Beach plus air fare from Dallas cost $960 in 1997. Fewer Japanese bookings have pushed down prices. TransGlobal Vacations' package includes a "partial" ocean view.

$17,990 List price of a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant ES is $460 less than a '98 model, thanks to the yen and streamlined production. New standard features are worth another $300.

$40 The Japanese koi, an ornamental carp that is popular in U.S. ponds, is a real steal. Last year they were selling for $75 each.

49,209 yen A room at the Sheraton in downtown Chicago costs a Japanese guest 33% more today than last summer. Then the top rate was 37,050 yen. The dollar increase is only 7%, from $325 to $349.
