How To Tell A Stock's Fortune
By Scott Medintz

(MONEY Magazine) – Feeling New Age? Even millennial? Investors sure are--or so hopes one author with some, ahem, unconventional stock-picking ideas.

Marcus Goodwin, in his new book, The Psychic Investor, takes the guesswork out of traditional stock-picking strategies with five oracular tools: tarot cards, astrology, numerology, the pendulum and psychometry (that is, picking up psychic impressions from inanimate objects--in this case, from photos of CEOs). Each tool lets you rate stocks on a scale of one to 10 crystal balls. Goodwin suggests buying only those stocks that average seven crystal balls or better.

So what does Goodwin like in the next millennium? In October, he owned Cisco Systems, Infinity Broadcasting and eToys--and was feeling bullish. "I've got the market pegged at 21,004 by the year 2007," he says. Skeptical? That's an annual gain of 10.7%.
