Changing Times You've got to adapt quickly in a world that's moving rapidly. Here's what we're doing.
By Robert Safian/Managing Editor

(MONEY Magazine) – Over the past two years, I've used this space to write about many changes at MONEY: our full redesign 20 months ago, the launch of our Money.com section, the arrival of top-name writers. Making the right adjustments is key to any portfolio--as recent market events (which we address on pages 39 and 71) have clearly shown--and we continue to make adjustments here. Our signature MONEY 100 mutual fund report, for instance, has been completely revised for 2000, with nearly 20 newcomers added to the list. Our online-brokers survey on page 146 offers similar surprises. In fact, there is so much new at MONEY, I couldn't possibly do it all justice. Herewith, a quick update.

--This month we welcome CNBC's Ron Insana to the magazine as a columnist. Each issue he will bring us the Insana Interview with a key investment figure. His first subject: Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers (page 75).

--Also new with this issue is Tech Enthusiast, in-house expert Brian Clark's column for the sophisticated consumer of leading-edge hardware and software. Turn to page 189 for the skinny on a new portable keyboard for Palm users, peripherals, security and more.

--Two issues ago, we quietly launched the Tech Investor, a column by staff writer Pablo Galarza. The first installments focused on the rise of m-commerce and interactive TV. This month's topic: the next generation of Internet infrastructure companies (page 58). To keep readers abreast of time-sensitive developments in tech, we've also introduced a daily online Tech Investor column, at www .money.com/techinvestor. (It is also available via e-mail.)

--Other new offerings only on our website (www.money.com) include a daily column by editor-at-large Jean Sherman Chatzky answering readers' and online users' questions (also available via e-mail), and Investing 201 by senior editor Walter Updegrave, which picks up where his print column, Investing 101, leaves off, taking experienced investors to the next level.

--Turning back to print, we have a special issue on newsstands until mid-June: MONEY FOR WOMEN. Produced by MONEY staffers led by senior editor Marion Asnes and Jean Chatzky, it targets the financial issues facing women and features key money players like Michael Sivy and Jason Zweig.

--Finally, we've recently brought aboard an exceptional crew of writers from TheStreet.com, the Wall Street Journal, Morningstar.com, BarronsOnline, Worth and more. Adding this fresh talent (several of whom are pictured at left) to our already formidable stable further elevates the distinctive level of journalism we can deliver.

We're dedicated to pushing this magazine forward. E-mail your ideas to managing_editor @moneymail.com or write to MONEY, Time & Life Building, Rockefeller Center, New York, N.Y. 10020. Thanks.
