(MONEY Magazine) – What to do with a long-ignored half bath? If you're Deborah Kermeen and John Grochala of Minneapolis and you already happen to be remodeling the kitchen adjacent to the neglected bath, it's simple: You fill it with custom birch cabinets topped with bluestone and walnut, plus a washer and dryer, turning it into the laundry room of your dreams. Now, in a 1,800-square-foot 1914 condo with a living room, den and two offices, Deborah says this is her favorite room, the place where she plugs in her laptop and works in peace. A lot of people might feel the same way: In a recent National Association of Home Builders survey, homeowners ranked a laundry room as the No. 1 most desirable feature a home could have.
