SYNOPSIS
CANADA - Evraz Group SA acquired the Canadian tubular operations of IPSCO Inc (II), a manufacturer of and wholesaler of primary and secondary steel products, from Svenskt Stal AB {SSAB}, for 3.984 bil Canadian dollars ($4.025 bil) in cash. The transaction had been subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Concurrently, OAO Trubnaya Metalurgicheskaya Kompanya definitively agreed to acquire IPSCO Tubulars Inc and a 51% NS Group Inc (NS), and was also granted an option to acquire the remaining 49% stake in NS.
