Food companies scout for hot products at annual Fancy Food Show

NEW YORK (Associated Press) - Whole Foods Market Inc., Kraft Foods Inc., Costco Wholesale Corp. and other food sellers sent scouts to New York last week for the annual Fancy Food Show, where 2,400 exhibitors showed off 180,000 specialty products.

New and notable products included tea sticks from Petit Tea, and teaspoon-size packets of cardamom, ginger, cinnamon and other spices from Tsp Spices. Also featured were green tea mints and energy bars from Sencha Naturals.

Food marketers from Chile brought the tamaya, a papaya that resembles a lemon. Marketers from South Africa showed the peppadew, a fruit which looks like a mini red or yellow pepper. Top of page
