TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- Taiwan's Nanya Technology Corp. (2408.TW) said Thursday
it would consider an appeal if the final verdict in a legal battle with Rambus
Inc. (RMBS) favors the U.S. company.
"Filing an appeal is one option," said Nanya spokesman Pei Lin Pai. "We will
discuss with our lawyers to make the final decision."
He declined to say how the decision might affect Nanya's operations.
The case, tried in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of
California in San Jose, addressed a charge by Nanya, Micron Technology Inc. (MU)
and Hynix Semiconductor Inc. (000660.SE) that Rambus fraudulently misled an
industry standards body during the 1990s and shouldn't be allowed to enforce
patents related to the dynamic random access memory technology that later became
a standard.
The U.S. District Court jury ruled Wednesday that the Silicon Valley company
wasn't guilty of fraud or violating antitrust laws in dealing with the industry
body.
At 0456 GMT, Nanya's shares were down 2.2% at NT$17.60, while the benchmark
Taiex was down 2.1% at 8587.50.
