Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) announced today that it will support Mobily, the official brand name of Etihad Etisalat and a leading mobile service provider in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in launching managed services based on Cisco solutions. Four managed services will be launched in the initial phase. Two are managed data center services -- a managed hosted-server service and a managed back-up and recovery service. The other two are a managed firewall security service and a managed business communications service. The managed services are designed to support all types of businesses in Saudi Arabia from smaller businesses to large enterprises in banking and finance, oil and gas, healthcare, education and petrochemicals.

Highlights / Key Facts:

  • Cisco's managed services solutions will give Mobily the opportunity to differentiate itself in the Saudi marketplace by building, and marketing a new generation of value-added managed services delivered over an extensible, efficient Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure. The innovative managed services that Cisco offers will help Mobily to capture new revenue streams as well as expand into different managed services markets.
  • Cisco has supported Mobily in building a next-generation data center that will host the managed services portfolio.
  • Cisco managed data center services will help Mobily customers manage the changes in architecture, technologies, applications, regulations, efficiency focus, and workload demands in the data center. These changes are causing one of the most comprehensive IT infrastructure transformations in the past decade.
  • Similarly, Cisco managed firewall services help to prevent unauthorized visitors from accessing valuable customer business resources and will help Mobily's customers comply with security and regulatory requirements.
  • Cisco's managed business communications service portfolio builds on the Cisco IP Next-Generation Network (IP NGN). This infrastructure provides communications solutions that span media types, such as voice, video, email, collaboration, and contact centers.
