The company's U.S.-based "Problem Gambling Awareness Month" initiative also includes a variety of educational messages and resources that are being promoted through internal communications channels, as part of its ongoing worldwide mission to empower Team Members in taking an active approach to ensuring responsible gaming practices.

Led by word-renowned University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) expert Dr. Bo Bernhard, the sixth annual ambassador training program adds more resources to the pool of responsible gaming ambassadors who are on the company's gaming floors around the globe, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.  Other LVS regions will host Responsible Gaming Ambassador trainings throughout 2018.

Ambassadors represent a select group of Team Members from Gaming Operations, Table Games, Slots, Poker, Cage, Grazie, Security, Paiza Club, Player Development, Food & Beverage Services, Front Desk, Hotel Services and Human Resources departments.  The training program focuses on the science of addictions such as problem gambling, treatment resources available in the community and best practices for assisting guests in a sensitive manner. Dr. Bernhard, who is executive director of the International Gaming Institute at UNLV and oversees the world's largest academic institute dedicated to the study of the global gaming industry, has worked with LVS to ensure the program is on the leading-edge of responsible gaming practices.

"It's imperative that our Team Members understand the complexity of problem gambling, because their interactions can be pivotal in connecting people in need to the resources that can help," said Maria-Christina Annaloro, director of Government Relations and Social Sciences at Las Vegas Sands.  "Our top priority is to provide a safe and healthy environment for our guests, our Team Members and our community."

Other Team Member educational initiatives for "Problem Gambling Awareness Month" include ongoing communications about best practices for addressing problem gambling, information on services available in the community and access to a white paper on gambling disorder from Harvard Medical School's Division on Addiction.
