These places have the highest median household incomes in the United States.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) -- Potomac, Md. has the highest median household income of any place in the United States with a population of over 25,000, according to rankings provided by the data company On Board. The median household income in Potomac is $112,452. That's almost 2.7 times the national median household income of $41,994. Westport, Conn. comes in second at $110,413.

It might not surprise you that, looking at the top three places on the income list, their residents are slightly older than average. The average American is 35.3 years old, according to census data. The average resident of Potomac is 43.8.

They are also much more educated. Only 8.9 percent of Americans have graduate degrees, but in Potomac 44.2 percent of residents have one. In Westport, almost a third of residents have a graduate degree. Here are the top 25 places with populations over 25,000 in the U.S. by median household income.
