Europe's largest electrical utility, French state-owned EDF, jumped from No. 8 to No. 4 this year, improving its overall score from 56 to 61. To determine what's relevant to report and measure, EDF convenes a panel made up of academics and experts from groups like Transparency International and the Environmental Defence Fund. It also has created a mediator system to resolve disputes with customers, communities, and activists.
