It handles capably on a twisty mountain road, but offers little excitement. The emphasis is on comfort and ease. Power from the car's 4.2-liter 300-horsepower V-8 engine is ample and offers a quick-feeling run from a dead stop. A little more oomph would be nice for passing at highway speeds, but the XK hardly feels like a weakling. The design, particularly from the side, is striking. I've been in plenty of cars that people would stop and look at, but few that have inspired as many lingering gazes. Yes, the oval grille is coincidentally reminiscent of the Ford Taurus, but to be fair, the XK and its predecessors have sported oval grilles for decades. So, don't blame Ford. -Peter Valdes-Dapena |
