The index is a float adjusted, capitalization-weighted index that is intended to measure the performance of all Business Development Companies (“BDC“) that are listed on the New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ and satisfy specified market capitalization and other eligibility requirements. The BDC business model is to lend to small and midsized companies at high yield equivalent rates while also at times taking equity stakes in such companies.
