Investment Objective The investment seeks to provide long-term capital appreciation and current income. Under normal market conditions- the Japan Fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in the securities of- and depositary receipts (including American Depositary Receipts ("ADRs")- Global Depositary Receipts ("GDRs")- and European Depositary Receipts ("EDRs")) represented by- Japanese issuers that are tied economically to Japan. It may also enter into derivative transactions. The fund may use derivative transactions for any purpose consistent with its investment objective- such as for hedging- obtaining market exposure- and generating premium income.
