American Capital Agency Corp. is a real estate investment trust. It primarily invests in residential mortgage pass-through securities and collateralized mortgage obligations. The company's investments consist of securities, for which the principal and interest payments are guaranteed by United States Government-sponsored entities, such as the Federal National Mortgage Association and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp., or by U.S. Government agency, such as the Government National Mortgage Association. American Capital Agency was founded on January 7, 2008 and is headquartered in Bethesda, MD.
