Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd. provides insurance and reinsurance services. The company operates its business through two segments: Insurance and Reinsurance. The Insurance segment underwrites the U.S. commercial property that covers mercantile, manufacturing, municipal, and commercial real estate business; the U.K. commercial property insurance, which provides physical damage and business interruption coverage as a result of weather, fire, theft, and other causes; the U.K. commercial liability that offers employers' liability and public liability coverage; general liability, commercial and residential construction liability, life science, railroads, trucking, product and public liability, and associated types of cover found in general liability policies in the global insurance market; and the U.S. casualty account. This segment also offers marine, energy, and construction liability, as well as energy physical damage, marine hull, specie, and aviation insurance; and insurance for financial institutions, professional liability, management and technology liability, and financial and political risks. The Reinsurance segment engages in the property catastrophe reinsurance is generally written on a treaty excess of loss basis where they provide protection to an insurer for an agreed portion of the total losses from a single event in excess of a specified loss amount. It also provides other property reinsurance, which include written on an excess of loss, pro rata and facultative basis and includes risk solutions business. This segment also offers trade credit reinsurance, international surety reinsurance, and political risks reinsurance; structured risks reinsurance; agricultural reinsurance; specialty line of reinsurance products consisting of reinsurance treaties covering marine, energy, liability, and aviation insurance, as well as contingency, terrorism, nuclear, personal accident and crop reinsurance. The company was founded by Christopher O'Kane and Julian M. Cusack on May 23, 2002 and is headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda.
