Allied Irish Banks Plc operates as a bank holding company, which operates through its subsidiaries, offers commercial banking, international banking, leasing, insurance and mortgage banking. The company operates in four segments: Domestic Core Bank, AIB UK, and Financial Solutions Group. The Domestic Core Bank provides services the personal, business and corporate customers of AIB in the Republic of Ireland, to wealth management services and has a strong presence in all key sectors including SMEs, mortgages, personal and corporate banking. All owner occupier mortgages in the Republic of Ireland are reported in DCB. This segment also includes the bank's treasury and capital markets functions. The AIB UK segment comprises retail and commercial banking operations in Great Britain operating under the trading name Allied Irish Bank (GB) and in Northern Ireland operating under the trading name First Trust Bank. UK Structured Lending Services deals with AIB UK customers in difficulty within one centre of expertise. The Financial Solutions Group segment is dedicated to supporting business and personal customers in financial difficulties on a case by case basis and Third Party Servicing of NAMA loans. Non-impaired loans connected to customers in financial difficulty are also reported in this segment. Allied Irish Banks was founded on September 1, 1966 and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.
