AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. is a major gold exploration, mining and marketing company. It has a portfolio of assets and differing ore body types in key gold producing regions. Its operations are divided into the following regions: South Africa, Continental Africa, Australasia and Americas. The South African region operations comprise of six deep-level mines and one surface operation in South Africa. The Continental Africa region has eight mining operations: Iduapriem and Obuasi in Ghana; Siguiri in Guinea; Morila, Sadiola and Yatela in Mali; Navachab in Namibia; and Geita in Tanzania. The Australasia region comprises of the operation of Sunrise Dam in Australia. The Americas region comprises of the operations in Cripple Creek and Victor mine in the United States, the Cerro Vanguardia mine in Argentina, the AngloGold Ashanti Corrego do SÃtio Mineracao and Serra Grande operations, both in Brazil. It also produces silver, uranium oxide and sulfuric acid as by-products. AngloGold Ashanti was founded in 1944 and is headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa.
