Cabot Microelectronics Corp. is engaged in the development, manufacture and sale of chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) consumables. The company develops, produces and sells CMP slurries for polishing many of the conducting and insulating materials used in integrated circuit devices and also for polishing certain components in hard disk drives. It also develops, manufactures and sells CMP polishing pads, which are used in conjunction with slurries in the CMP process. The company also develops, manufactures and sells slurry products used to polish the dielectric insulating materials that separate conductive layers within logic and memory IC devices. Its advanced dielectrics products are designed to meet the requirements of lower-volume, more specialized dielectric polishing applications, such as pre-metal dielectric and shallow trench isolation, at advanced technology nodes. Cabot Microelectronics was founded by William P. Noglows in October 1999 and is headquartered in Aurora, IL.
