The company operates its business through two segments: Equipment and Services. The Equipment segment operates through subsidiary Sercel Holding SA, which engages in the development and production of seismic acquisition systems and specialized equipment in the land and marine seismic markets. The Services segment is composed of the following divisions: Land Contract, Marine Contract, Multi-Client Land and Marine and Processing, Imaging and Reservoir. The Land Contract division engages in the seismic data acquisition for land, transition zones and shallow water undertaken. The Marine Contract division engages in the seismic data acquisition offshore undertaken. The Multi-Client Land and Marine division composes seismic data acquisition undertaken. The Processing, Imaging and Reservoir division engages in the processing, imaging and interpretation of geophysical data, data management and reservoir studies for clients. CGG was founded by Marcel Champin in July 23, 1931 and is headquartered in Paris, France.
