ConocoPhillips is an independent exploration and production company. It operates through six segments: Alaska, Lower 48 and Latin America, Canada, Europe, Asia Pacific and Middle East, and Other International. The Alaska segment primarily explores for, produces, transports and markets crude oil, natural gas liquids, natural gas and liquefied natural gas. The Lower 48 and Latin America segment primarily consists of operations located in the U.S. Lower 48 states, as well as exploration activities in the Gulf of Mexico and Colombia. The Canadian segment operations mainly consist of natural gas fields in western Canada and oil sands developments in the Athabasca Region of northeastern Alberta. The Europe segment consists of operations principally located in the Norwegian and U.K. sectors of the North Sea, as well as exploration activities in Poland and Greenland. The Asia Pacific and Middle East segment has exploration and production operations in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and the Timor Sea; producing operations in Qatar; and exploration activities in Bangladesh and Brunei. The Other International segment includes exploration and producing operations in Libya and Russia, as well as exploration activities in Angola, Senegal and Azerbaijan. The company was founded on August 30, 2002 and is headquartered in Houston, TX.
