Carpenter Technology Corp. develops, manufactures and distributes cast/wrought and powder metal stainless steels and special alloys, including high temperature, stainless, superior corrosion resistant, controlled expansion alloys, ultra high strength and implantable alloys, tool and die steels and other specialty metals, as well as cast/wrought titanium alloys. The company operates through three segments: Specialty Alloys Operations, Latrobe and Performance Engineered Products. The Specialty Alloys Operations segment comprises of the company's major premium alloy and stainless steel manufacturing operations. This includes operations performed at mills primarily in Reading, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area, South Carolina, and the new premium products manufacturing facility being built in Limestone County, Alabama. The Latrobe segment provides management with the focus and visibility into the business performance of these newly acquired operations. It also includes the results of its distribution business in Mexico. The Performance Engineered Products segment includes the Dynamet titanium business, the Carpenter Powder Products business, and the Amega West business. The businesses in this segment will be managed with an entrepreneurial structure to promote speed and flexibility and drive overall revenue and profit growth. The company was founded by James Carpenter in 1889 and is headquartered in Wyomissing, PA.
