CenturyLink, Inc. is an integrated communications company engaged primarily in providing an array of communications services to residential, business, governmental and wholesale customers. Its communications services include local and long-distance, broadband, private line (including special access), Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), data integration, managed hosting (including cloud hosting), colocation, Ethernet, network access, public access, wireless, video services and other ancillary services. It also offers advanced entertainment services under the CenturyLink Prism TV and DIRECTV brands. The company operates its business through the following segments: Consumer, Business, Wholesale and Data Hosting. The Consumer segment consists generally of providing strategic and legacy products and services to residential consumers. Its strategic products and services offered to these customers include broadband, wireless and video services, including Prism TV services. Its legacy services offered to these customers include local and long-distance service. The Business segment consists generally of providing strategic and legacy products and services to commercial, enterprise, global and governmental customers. Its strategic products and services offered to these customers include private line, broadband, Ethernet, MPLS, Voice over Internet Protocol, and network management services. Its legacy services offered to these customers include local and long-distance service. The Wholesale segment consists generally of providing strategic and legacy products and services to other communications providers. Its strategic products and services offered to these customers are mainly private line (including special access), dedicated internet access, digital subscriber line and MPLS. Its legacy services offered to these customers include the resale of services, the sale of unbundled network elements which allow wholesale customers to use network or a combination of network and their own networks to provide voice and data services to their customers, long-distance and switched access services and other services, including billing and collection, pole rental, floor space and database services. The Data Hosting segment consists primarily of providing colocation, managed hosting and cloud hosting services to commercial, enterprise, global and governmental customers. CenturyLink was founded in 1930 and is headquartered in Monroe, LA.
