It operates through two business segments: Petroleum and Nitrogen Fertilizer. The Petroleum Segment is operated by the Refining Partnership. Its principal products are refined fuels, propane, and petroleum refining by-products, including pet coke. This segment's Coffeyville refinery sells pet coke to the Nitrogen Fertilizer Partnership for use in the manufacture of nitrogen fertilizer at the adjacent nitrogen fertilizer plant. The Nitrogen Fertilizer segment is operated by the Nitrogen Fertilizer Partnership, which is the nitrogen fertilizer plant in North America that utilizes a pet coke gasification process to produce nitrogen fertilizer. The principal product of the Nitrogen Fertilizer Segment is nitrogen fertilizer. CVR Energy was founded in August 1906 and is headquartered in Sugar Land, TX.
