The company operates through two segments: Light Source Products and Display Products. The Light Source Products operating segment designs, manufactures and sells light sources and installed base products for use in photolithography systems used in the manufacture of semiconductors. The Display Products segment provides developed, integrated, marketed and supported silicon crystallization tools, which are used in the manufacture of high-resolution LTPS-LCD and OLED displays. The company also provides installed base products in support of chipmaker customers who use its light sources in their advanced wafer patterning production processes and its light source systems constitute a substantial majority of all DUV light sources incorporated in lithography stepper and scanner tools at chipmakers worldwide. The company was founded by Robert P. Akins and Richard L. Sandstrom in 1986 and is headquartered in San Diego, CA.
