Company Description

The Empire District Electric Co. is engaged in the generation, purchase, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity in parts of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. It operates through three business segments: Electric, Gas and Other. The Electric segment provides water service to three towns in Missouri. The Gas segment operations serve customers in Northwest, North central and West central Missouri. The Other segment consists of the fiber optics business. The company was founded on October 31, 1909 and is headquartered in Joplin, MO.
