Forest City Enterprises, Inc. provides real estate services. It engages in the ownership, development, management and acquisition of commercial and residential real estate and land. The company serves markets in Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, the Great San Francisco metropolitan area, and the Greater Washington D.C. metropolitan area. It operates through five reportable segments: Commercial Group, Residential Group, Land Development Group, The New Jersey Nets and Corporate Activities. The Commercial Group segment owns, develops, acquires and operates regional malls, specialty and urban retail centers, office and life science buildings, hotels and mixed-use projects. The Residential Group segment owns, develops, acquires and operates residential rental properties, including upscale and middle-market apartments and adaptive re-use developments. It also develops for-sale condominium projects and owns interests in developing and managing military family housing. The Land Development Group segment acquires and sells both land and developed lots to residential, commercial and industrial customers and owns and develops land into master-planned communities and mixed-use projects. The New Jersey Nets segment involves in overseeing the construction of and has a long-term lease in the Barclays center arena. The Corporate Activities segment controls tax strategies. Forest City Enterprises was founded in 1920 and is headquartered in Cleveland, OH.
