It also manufactures and repairs pressure vessels used in the oil and gas industry; refurbishes existing platforms; fabricates various other types of steel structures, and living quarters for installation on such platforms. Gulf Island provides onshore and offshore scaffolding and piping insulation services; and performs heavy lifts, such as ship integration and TLP module integration; loading and offloading jack-up drilling rigs, semi-submersible drilling rigs or other similar cargo. The company also fabricates multiple processing modules installed in petro-chemical plants and towboats, barges, lift boats, offshore support vessels and mid-body sections for offshore supply vessels. Gulf Island Fabrication was founded by Alden J. Laborde in 1985 and is headquartered in Houma, LA.
