The company markets its socks products under a diversified portfolio of company-owned brands, including Gold Toe, PowerSox, SilverToe, Auro, All Pro, GT, and the Gildan brand. In addition, the company supplies selective national retailer brands. The company also supplies athletic, casual and dress socks for a broad spectrum of retailers in the U.S. The company operates through two segments: Printwear and Branded. The Printwear segment designs, manufactures, sources and distributes undecorated activewear products in large quantities primarily to wholesale distributors in printwear markets across North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. The products sold under Printwear segment consist mainly of undecorated or blank T-shirts, fleece and sport shirts marketed primarily under Gildan brand. The Branded Apparel segment designs, manufactures, sources, and distributes branded family apparel, which includes socks, underwear and activewear products primarily to U.S. retailers. Gildan Activewear was founded by Glenn J. Chamandy and H. Gregory Chamandy on May 8, 1984 and is headquartered in Montreal, Canada.
