The company operates through its wholly owned subsidiary, GreenHunter Water LLC, which provides Total Water Management Solutions in the oilfield. It operates its business through three reportable segments: Wind Energy, Water Management and Biomass. The Water Management segment currently is in the development stage and has a number of projects under development and the segment includes disposal into injection wells that could pose some risks of environmental liability, including leakage from the wells to surface or subsurface soils, surface water or groundwater. The Wind Energy is also in the development stage and currently has no wind projects. The Biomass segment is also in the development stage and produces energy from organic matter available at or near the plant sites. GreenHunter Energy was founded by Gary C. Evans on June 7, 2005 and is headquartered in Grapevine, TX.
