The U.S. Property & Casualty segment is engaged in operating and managing aviation, small account errors and omissions liability, public risk, employment practices liability, title, residual value, disability, contingency, kidnap and ransom, difference in conditions, occupational accident and brown water marine in the United States. The Professional Liability segment is engaged in operating and managing liabilities, large account errors and omissions and fiduciary liability, fidelity, bankers blanket bonds, directors and officers policyholders, employment practices liability in the United States and internationally. The Accident & Health segment is engaged in operating and managing medical stop-loss, short-term domestic and international medical, HMO reinsurance and medical excess in the United States. The U.S. Surety & Credit segment is engaged in operating and managing contract surety and commercial surety bonds and bail bonds in the United States. The International segment is engaged in operating and managing energy, property treaty, liability, surety, credit, property, ocean marine, accident and health and other smaller product lines outside the United States. The Investing segment is engaged in operating and managing investment income, investment related expenses, realized investment gains and losses and other-than-temporary impairment credit losses on investments.
