The Industrial Power Control segment is consists of industrial drives which includes motors, pumps, fans, compressors for automation technology, conveyor technology, air conditioning, elevators and escalators as well as of renewable energy such as onshore and offshore windmills, and free standing photovoltaic installations. The Power Management and Multimedia segment is the supply of power among computers, network computers, telecommunications facilities and television sets. The Chip Card and Security segment develops SIM cards and payment cards containing contact-based security controller or contactless security controller which is commonly used in government identification documents. The company was founded on April 1, 1999 and is headquartered in Munich, Germany.
